SMR Gulf Coast launches new and unique “specifications driven” independent rep agency with dynamic, proven team and preferred products lineup.

We
are very pleased to announce the creation and launch of a new and unique
Houston based manufacturers rep agency- SMR
Gulf Coast, Inc. SMR, an acronym for Specified
Manufacturers Reps, will initially serve the
Texas and southwest Louisiana Gulf Coasts and include the following market
areas- Greater Houston, Freeport / Brazosport, Texas City, Beaumont / Pt
Arthur/ Orange, Lake Charles, Victoria, Corpus Christi, and Brownsville/
Harlingen/ Rio Grande Valley. SMR Gulf Coast will also serve the western
Caribbean market including Trinidad for some key manufacturers.
SMR
Gulf Coast has been appointed the exclusive representative for EGS/ OZ/Gedney,
EGS Curlee / Nelson, and EGS McGill effective May 7, 2003 for the Texas and
southwest Louisiana Gulf Coasts. These highly specified and accepted brands
give SMR Gulf Coast a broad and compelling lineup attractive to commercial and
industrial end users, specifiers, contractors and distributors. SMR Gulf Coast will be announcing the addition
of several more specifiable, complimentary electrical manufacturers- including
some from outside the EGS family, to the launch portfolio over coming weeks.

especially at petrochemicals and OEM’s. Their backgrounds in distribution make
them especially sensitive to distributor issues like margin and sales support.

on the SMR Gulf Coast platform.”
The
founder and co-principal of SMR Gulf Coast is Matt Kinchen. Matt has over 24 years experience in the electrical
industry in Texas, Louisiana, and the Caribbean. He was most recently Senior
VP, Operations at Warren Electric Group until March, 2002. He served in various
management and sales roles at Warren since 1986, and was with Nunn Electric
prior to that- his most recent position being District Manager.
David Russell has also joined
SMR as a co-principal effective May 7. David was most recently with The
Reynolds Co. from 2000-2003, where he served in various roles including Vice
President / Houston Region Manager and Director of Business Development in
Dallas. Prior to Reynolds, David was with Warren Electric Group for 11 years,
where he served in a number of roles including Strategic Accounts Manager,
Houston Region Sales Manager, Bay Area Branch Manager, Houston Inside Sales
Manager, and outside sales and automation sales roles.
SMR
Gulf Coast is an independent rep agency and will be joining NEMRA. While the
initial lineup of brands includes some highly preferred EGS brands, SMR is not
otherwise affiliated with EGS and will be representing a number of
complimentary brands other than those from EGS companies.
The
combined industrial offering from EGS is significantly broader than any other
